DESCRIPTION

Avocado is one of the most popular tropical fruits in the world due to its high nutritional value, pleasant taste, versatility and easy preparation.

In Peru, it is cultivated mainly in regions such as La Libertad, Lima, Ancash, Ica and Junin and is produced mainly two types of varieties: Hass and Fuerte

AVOCADO HASS

It is native to California. Its fruits are oval shaped piriform, medium size (200 to 300 gr.), Excellent quality, thick, rough skin, peels easily and has a violet-green to dark color when the fruit ripens.

The pulp has no fiber and its oil content fluctuates between 18 and 22%. The seed is small, spherical and adhered to the pulp.

STRONG AVOCADO

It has a soft and creamy texture. Its interior is pale yellow, this fruit is easy to recognize has an elongated pear shape, has a green skin is fine, with a tanned appearance with small white dots. In addition, it maintains its color after maturing.

This fruit is fantastic because this variety has a low fat content, but is high in oleic acid. It ripens in winter and many people prefer it.

CROP AREAS

La Libertad, Lima, Ica and Junín are the main places where the best avocado is harvested, due to its agroecological characteristics that offer excellent conditions for its production which maintains an important growth trend.

Casma, for example, with its large temperature differences between summer and winter.

CALENDARI

The strong avocado season starts in January and ends in March, while Hass avocado is available from March to June, the production area of this crop covers most of the central coast of the country.
